Cebu City highly urbanized,first income class city, lies in Central Philippines called Visayas.The city is the Provincial Capital of Cebu Province and also the center of Metro Cebu,second most populous metropolitan city in the Philippines,2nd only to Metro Manila.The 2015 census more than 900,000 were registered in Cebu,making it the 5th most populated city in the Philippines.

Cebu has many Landmarks,the best Landmark is Magellan's Cross,the cross was made by Ferdinand Magellan for the commemorating of Philippines Christianity after a local tribe chief,Rahah Human on agreed to be baptized with his wife and over a hundred other people.The government housed the cross for protection from rain and sun and also from people,fanatic people believe that the cross has miracle power,and they chipped pieces of the wooden cross.Rumors said,the cross today was just a replica,that the original cross was taken by the Spaniards after they were defeat by another local tribe,Magellan was killed by the native chief,lapu-lapu.Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.(Church of the Holy Child) a Augustinian Church,t he church was the first to be established in the country,make of hewn stone.E very third week of January,Sunday a festival will held,the Sinulog Festival,one of the famous festival in the country.The festival celebrate Santo Niño,Cebu's patron saint but was change(the patronage was changed to Our Lady of Guadalupe,after they realised that Santo Niño could not be a saint because he was an image of Christ).The devotee dancer,dance to a rhythmic of the drums,two steps forward,one step backward,this resembles the current(sulog)movement of the river.Malacañang sa Sugbo(Malacanang of Cebu) was a former Customs building(aduana),build in 1910 to house the Bureau of Customs.It was renovated by the order of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to be her Malacanang in Cebu.Fort San Pedro,build by the first Spanish settler in 1738 from limeatones to repel Muslim raiders.It was also used by Filipinos as their stronghold,the American used the fort as their barracks and the Japanese invaders fortified the fort.until late 1950s the Cebu Garden Club convert the fort into mini garden.Fuentes Osmeña Circle,the fountain was build to inaugurate Cebu's water system.It is also a Park,use by people and gatherings to meet friends,just to relax,chat with people,do exercise.Some special events are also held here.Build in 1912 to honor the 4th president of the Philippines,the late President Sergeo Osmeña.

History of the City:
The Philippines History was started in Cebu City when a Portuguese man sailing the flag of Spain landed in an island now called Cebu,his name is Ferdinand Magellan.He's ship and several others landed in Cebu in April 7,1521 and was greeted by a native tribe chief Rajah Humabon,with his wife and several hundred tribe warriors.Magellan baptized the local people and begun the Christianity of the Philippines.Magellan was killed in a bloody fight against another local chief named Lapu Lapu,in an island now called Mactan.The remaining of his men fleed,but was imprisoned by Rajah Humabon.
In February 13,1565,another Spanish Conquistadors led by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi together with Augustinian friars.They arrived in Samar taking possession the island and Christianized the natives.The expedition visited other islands in central Visayas were Cebu is located.Miguel Lopez de Legazpi made contact with the local tribe of Bohol,Datu Sikatuna,a chieftain based in Bohol and performed the blood compact between them in March 16,1565.In April 15,1565 they arrived in Cebu to make contact with the nephew of Rajah Humabon,Rajah Tupas.Rajah Tupas presented himself at their camps and made treaty,the Treaty of Cebu was formalized in july 3,1565 for the Spanish King.Cebu garrison was fortified with the arrival of 2,100 men,reinforced from New Spain,now Mexico.
After the Spanish-American War war,the Philippines was under the United States government in the Treaty of Paris.On February 21,1899 the USS Petrel deploy a landing party of 40 Marines in the shore of Cebu,transfer to the Commonwealth Government was signed by Luis Flores.Even their was still resistance until 1901.
Like other areas in the Philippines,Cebu City felled to the Japanese Imperial Army but still kept on fighting.The Japanese forces faced oppositions lead by Col. James Cushing and Cebu Area Command,fighting in guerrilla units all over Cebu.In 1945 Cebu City was liberated by American forces lead by the famous Gen. Douglas McArthur and regain the Philippines.
Now Cebu is a modern city,Colon street is the oldest national road in the Philippines,crown of people gather in the street with shopping malls,small business,movie theatres and fashion boutique lined in colon.I n the '90s colon transformed into modern buildings and establishments,street filled with vehicles and jeepneys.
